At Silver Swan, we get some incredible couple roles across many of our sectors, so we thought we’d share these with you, so you know the options you have when looking for work as a couple.
Seasonal Jobs
First up, Seasonal roles – these are probably the roles you’ve heard of for couples, sharing the duties at a chalet in the snow or a villa in the sun and then enjoying the ski or surf in your downtime.

Here’s an idea of some Seasonal Couple roles we often get at Silver Swan – some with a twist:
Villa/Chalet Couple:
These are great roles if you’re looking for a temporary placement in a location that you’d love to visit for longer than a holiday or might not be able to usually afford.
Responsibilities usually include:
- Welcoming guests and making them feel at home while providing a 5* experience
- Household and time management
- Keeping the residence clean and tidy, including daily housekeeping and laundry
- Cooking duties, including plating, serving and clearing away at all meals
- Weekly shopping for groceries and household products
- Being the first point of contact for guests and the residence owner
Other duties can include:
- Driving guests to and from activities, including airport and transfer pick ups
- Assisting with, or organising, childcare and pet care when required
- Butler service and wardrobe management
- Property maintenance
- Organising day trips such as ski passes, boat trips and local activities
- Being conversational in other languages
Benefits of these roles are usually:
- Competitive wage
- Travel to and from the location is paid for
- Accommodation is often provided
- Uniform is often provided or a contribution towards one
- Activity passes provided – i.e. lift pass, ski hire and use of a car
Private Households
Next up are roles for couples in Private Households. These can range a huge amount, from location to role, and length of contract to experience needed.
Silver Swan is based in the UK, but we recruit for roles all around the world and often skills are transferable once you have experience working in a Private Household. The important assets which Principals look for are a good attitude, flexibility, a strong work ethic, professional yet friendly service and longevity. If you have these and are able to read a guest and situation well, then you will flourish, and the rewards are second to none as you’ll work in and travel to some of the most exclusive places in the world.

There are a huge variety of couple roles across the Private Household sector but some of the most popular ones which we recruit for are:
- Chef / Front of House
- Housekeeper / Gardener
- Management Couple
- Chef / Butler
- Domestic Couple
Responsibilities usually include:
The responsibilities for these roles can range vastly, but often include:
- Day-to-day running of the residence
- Staff management
- Housekeeping and laundry
- Assisting with events, dinners and catering
- Care for household property, such as antiques and valuable property
- Hosting, welcoming guests and providing 5* star service at all times
- Offering PA services to the Principal or Estate Manager
Other duties can include:
- Driving and looking after the cars
- Pet and child care
- Running errands when required
- Light household maintenance
- Gardening and grounds management
- Dealing with contractors
- Speaking other languages
Benefits of these roles are usually:

- Accommodation often provided
- Work in exclusive locations
- Travel around the world, when required to join the family

Yachts
And finally, Yachts. Although there can often be openings for couples on yachts, these positions come around less frequently and are not recruited for in the same way as a Chalet or Villa couple. Saying that, we do get these roles through from time to time, so check our yacht page and our Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram channels for all of our latest roles.
Some roles we get on yachts are:
- Captain
- Steward/ess
- Deckhand
- Engineer
- Chef
- Spa Therapists
- Bosun
Qualifications required are:
- STCW and ENG1
- Then extra qualifications depend on your role, i.e. a chef would need to be culinary trained and a Deckhand would need a Powerboat Level 2

- A chance to travel and visit new countries around the world
- Very good pay, often tax-free
